The Hispanic Alliance for Prevention Coalition HAP

is comprised of a dedicated group of individuals representing state local governments,different organizations and stakeholders who share the mission of working together to reduce substance abuse in our community.

We recognize that the complex issues people face require recognition, education and awareness.
Our mission
Our mission is to provide social, economic, educational, health resources and support to reduce the risk factors associated with substance use for Hispanic youth ages 12-17 in Nassau County.
HAP Collaborative Culture
HAP's culture of collaboration with Nassau County Public Schools and the community includes evidence-based preventive education, intervention, strategies, and programs aimed at reducing underage alcohol and substance misuse.
Prevention Education
In partnership with YES Community Counseling Center and other local partners, HAP is training and educating parents and residents about substance use and its effects, and how to administer naloxone as a life-saving tool when faced with an opioid/opioid overdose. heroin.
Active Parenting Program
They are provided throughout the year, available in English and Spanish so that parents can improve communication with their children; They teach about responsibility and other important values and can address problems as they arise.

Influence on local policies
In partnership with the City of Hempstead and Nassau County we work to introduce and change policies related to underage access to substances.
